Nuptse, Nepal

Nuptse (right) from the West with Everest looming behind
Distance from CHUCS HQ more than 4,500 miles, right into the Himalayas and a far cry from Mayfair - you'll be on the more remote borders of China and Nepal (although unlike Everest you'll actually be in Nepal whichever route up you take) and about to tackle one of the less climbed peaks in the range. The main summit's part of a high ridge so from some angles it doesn't look that difficult, but it is high and it certainly isn't forgiving.
Elevation from CHUCS HQ at the summit, 7, 861m or 25,791ft, so quite possibly 50ºC colder. You'll need something waterproof for a March-in-London visit to Dover Street and certainly something warm for your high-level travels.
CHUCS rating we like it, right across the valley from the mighty Everest, Nuptse is hidden under its neighbour's shadow (metaphorically), which makes it an unusual conquest - it was first climbed as recently as 1961 and if you choose your route well you can give yourself a proper climb - CHUCS ambassador Fabrizio Zangrilli himself has attacked Nuptse's deadly west route.
How to get your CHUCS fix Kathmandu is the closest major airport - while you're in town stop off to visit Kumari Devi, an honest to goodness living Goddess - and once you've got that under your belt it could be as little as 18 hours before you're walking in for a warm Dover Street welcome.
If you've ordered something from our website, you should allow 4 or 5 days for it to make it to Kathmandu - although if you're anywhere near Nuptse, it'll get there before you anyway!
